General occupational requirement (GOR)

SCL has a relatively new small yet efficient and effective staff team. The CEO will manage, lead and develop the team members, promoting the Christian ethos of SCL through leading prayers, attending worship, and speaking at Churches and conferences. There is a genuine occupational requirement for the CEO to be a practicing Christian.

Sandwell Churches Link is embedded in the culture and history of the local churches and communities of Sandwell. Our approach is to work alongside churches, communities and organisations advocating a listening approach to better understand the needs and draw out the talents and assets from within the community itself.

Sandwell Churches Link builds on its well-established relationships with Sandwell Churches to listen to their concerns and aspirations, and to help them to cast vision for how to build authentic links into their communities. SCL works alongside them to identify their assets, build connection with their community and mobilise them into new ways to work together with their communities to create a better tomorrow.

SCL’s main themes include developing and supporting:

  • Food Networks
  • Tackling Isolation
  • Debt Advice
  • Clothing Provision
  • Homelessness forums and projects
  • Church and Community Hub initiatives
  • Communications and Promotion of Activities and Events

CAP Sandwell

Over the last two years, SCL has successfully established and developed a partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP Sandwell), and the CEO directly leads, and manages the CAP staff team in Sandwell. CAP Sandwell now operates as a core part of SCL through a partnership with Sandwell Churches Link.

Sandwell Clothing Bank

The Sandwell Clothing Bank initiative started in 2022, supplying churches and community organisations with brand-new clothing for distribution free-of-charge to local people in need. The project is run in partnership with St Mary’s Church in Bearwood and currently has 45 churches and partner organisations involved in the project.

How to Apply:

Please submit your CV and a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to communications@sandwellchurcheslink.org.uk by 9am on the 14th April. We would welcome requests for an informal chat with our Chair, Elizabeth Farley.
