Smethwich Church Action Network
Smethwick CAN is an action network of local churches formed to work with the community to tackle poverty, increase aspiration, provide opportunity and support the most vulnerable. Smethwick CAN works with local communities to provide a wide range of services through local churches and community groups including places of welcome to build community; supporting people towards work and social enterprise to increase aspiration; and provide crisis relief to support the most vulnerable. Smethwick CAN currently operates a Food Bank, a Food Pantry, a Community Café, a Community Bakery, a Community Allotment and a number of smaller projects which tackle homelessness and other areas of local social need.

St Mary’s Bearwood
The Vision for St Mary’s is sharing God’s Heart for Bearwood in the heart of Bearwood. With something happening Saturday – Thursday every week, this is a prime example of partner working, providing support and connecting communities.

Smethwick Food Bank (Holy Trinity Church) – Food bank (Trussell Trust network).

Salma Food Bank – Emergency food bank (independent charity)
- Access: Open to everyone in crisis without a voucher (direct self-referral). Operates 24/7 and 365 days a year with an open-door policy

- Opening times: Warehouse open for collections on Mondays and Thursdays 10:00–13:00 emergency deliveries arranged by text/phone outside these hours (service runs every day)

Smethwick Pantry (Smethwick CAN) – Community pantry (membership club).
- Access: Self-referral membership for Smethwick residents facing hardship (no voucher required). Members pay £6 per visit for a selection of healthy food

Dottie’s Community Fridge (Dorothy Parkes Centre) – Community fridge (food share)
- Access: Open to everyone – free surplus food available to all to reduce waste (no referral or membership needed)
