At Sandwell Churches Link, we believe that lasting change in our communities happens when people come together. There are so many ways you can get involved and make a difference — whether it’s offering a listening ear, a friendly face, or a helping hand with practical support.
Become a CAP Befriender

Our partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) means that trained debt coaches walk alongside people in crisis. But no one should walk alone. That’s where our Befrienders come in.
Befrienders are volunteers who accompany clients on their journey out of debt. It’s not about giving financial advice — it’s about offering friendship, encouragement, and a supportive presence. You might:
- Visit someone at home alongside a debt coach
- Be a listening ear during tough times
- Celebrate small victories together
- Help connect people into church or community activities
Befrienders are the heartbeat of CAP’s work — showing love in action and reminding people they’re not forgotten.
Volunteer at the Clothing Bank
For many families in Sandwell, essentials like winter coats, or everyday clothing can feel out of reach. Our clothing bank provides dignity and relief by making sure they have what they need.
As a volunteer, you could:
- Help sort and organise clothing
- Assist in finding clothing for orders
- Be part of a team that restores dignity and hope
Every item of clothing donated and every smile shared makes a difference to someone’s daily life.

Why Volunteer?
Volunteering with Sandwell Churches Link is about more than giving your time. It’s about being part of a movement of churches working together to bring hope and transformation to our borough. Whether you serve as a CAP Befriender, help in the clothing bank, or support in other ways, you’ll be making a tangible difference.
